For as long as I can remember, I’ve loved to read. I still do. I like stories that take me to distant times and places. Mythology, fables, and folklore, with a little sci-fi mixed in now and then. I love the fantastic creatures and people, and the stories that sometimes teach a lesson, sometimes explain the unexplainable, and sometimes are just for fun.

Those myths and stories are what inspire me, along with some of the greatest authors (Neil Gaiman, Terry Pratchett, JRR Tolkien, the Brothers Grimm, to name just a few.)

I love writing, and I hope you like reading what I write.

Welcome to my world….

When I read a story, I like knowing a little bit about the person who wrote it. So, here’s a little bit about me…

I was a middle school teacher for almost 20 years, but that was in another life. Nowadays, when I’m not writing, I spend my time playing in the clay with pottery, riding my motorcycle, walking my dogs, and bowing down before my cats.

I love the weird things that our imaginations can create, and I’m always open to a tale (long or short) that will make me laugh – and maybe give me some strange dreams. I believe that, while sometimes it’s good to have a moral to a story, there are other times that it’s good just to have a fun time. No morals. No lessons. Just an enjoyable way to spend your time and imagination. I think (I hope!) that’s what you find in my stories.

At the time I am writing this, I live in the town where I grew up. It’s in a desert, near a river with a wildlife refuge, and surrounded by mountains. Growing up, there were always dogs and cats in my family. We had a couple of Mustang horses that we rode bareback, and lizards and tortoises and birds… but mostly dogs and cats. I love taking my dogs to the river, where they can run up and down the beach and chase each other over who owns the stick they found.

For as long as I can remember, I have enjoyed reading. I was the kid who always had a book, and my library reading-punchcard was full of holes. Today, I’m the one with the e-book (because I can’t carry all the books I want to read). I have always loved stories – especially the good ones – and I hope that for you, my stories are some of those good ones.

Let’s jump into another world with my stories…

Sometimes you have to save the world, like Neddy in ‘Saving Sun and Moon: The Quest of the Almost-Goddess’. She’s been learning her lessons and will soon be the next Goddess, but now she’s told Dark has stolen Sun’s Heart and Moon’s Breath. If she doesn’t save them before her ascension, Dark will take over the world and everything will end. (No pressure, right?) Along the way, she makes friends with Dog, Crow and Spider, who help her with her quest. But are they any match for something as ancient and powerful as Dark?

Sometimes you’re a goblin who’s just looking for a juicy dinner, like Edwina in ‘The Goblin Chronicles.’ You see, there’s a pair of twin boys who have a little sister that Edwina would love to have for dinner. Can the boys outsmart her? Will the fairies and likhos and vulfusgrump get in her way? What about the teeny-tiny with who has lots and lots of cats?

Maybe you’re a dragon who only wants some flowers for your tea. Or maybe you’re a young apprentice to an old crone. Perhaps you’re just wanting to stay home and watch TV, when a mysterious brown box appears on your doorstep. You can find these stories in ‘The Dragon’s Marigold: A Collection of Short Stories of Various Types.’
